Praise be to Allah, and may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah, his family and his companions. Wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh. As to what follows: In response to your question, we say:   There is nothing due from her. If your wife is pregnant, the blood that comes out from her is not menstruation. If the blood comes out because of giving birth then it is post-partum bleeding and not menstruation, or part of the blood from the menstrual cycle. If the blood comes out because of a miscarriage, that is a fetus which is miscarried before the full term; if that happens before the fetus reaches eighty days then the blood is irregular bleeding which does not prevent a woman from fasting or performing prayer. If the blood comes out due to a miscarriage which occurs after ninety days then it takes the ruling of post-partum bleeding. If the miscarriage occurs when the fetus’ age is between eighty and ninety days; if the human form can be discerned on the fetus then the blood is post-partum bleeding. If the human form cannot be discerned then it is irregular bleeding which does not prevent the performance of prayer or fasting. And Allah knows best.
