Dear respected Shaykh, assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh. A woman has Zakat for payment and she wants to give it to her needy children, considering that their father who is her husband deserves Zakat because he is poor. The Zakat which the woman will pay will remain with her, and she will buy her children’s’ need with it. إخراج المرأة الزكاة لولدها وزوجها

As to what follows: In response to your question, we say: According to the correct opinion from the two opinions of the scholars (may Allah have mercy on them) in this issue, there is no problem if a woman  gives her Zakat to her children because Zaynab the wife of ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ood said, “O Prophet of Allah! Today you ordered people to give alms and I had an ornament and intended to give it as alms, but Ibn Mas`ud said that he and his children deserved it more than anybody else." The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied, "Ibn Mas`ud had spoken the truth. Your husband and your children had more right to it than anybody else" [al-Bukhari (1462)].
