Dear respected Shaykh, assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh. There is an amount of money which was set aside for building a mosque. However, the work to build the mosque has not yet started, and a year has passed since the money was acquired. The amount is 4000 pounds. Is Zakat due on it? زكاة أموال التبرعات

As to what follows: In response to your question, we say:   This money is for Allah and is not owned by any specific person, thus there is no Zakat upon it.
