Dear respected Shaykh, assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh. I have a piece of land which I have presented for sale. When should I pay its Zakat? لدي أرض وعرضتها للبيع فمتى أخرج زكاتها؟

As to what follows: In response to your question, we say:   If the land is commercial, that is, if your intention is to earn from it and engage in business, then its Zakat should be given with that of the rest of your property after the passage of a year. However, if the land is not for business then no Zakat is due upon it, even if you present it for sale for several years
