Every intended act is either intended for itself, or intended for something else. So if one’s end objective and intention is the worship of Allah alone without any partners, his deity whom he worships not worshipping anything besides Him, who is more beloved to him than anything else; then his intention ends with him intending Allah’s pleasure, thus being rewarded for his permissible acts that are intended to help in performing acts of obedience, as mentioned in the two Sahihs (Bukhari and Muslim) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “If a man spends on his family sincerely for Allah’s sake, it is an act of charity.” It is also mentioned in the two Sahihs that he said to Sa`d bin Abi Waqqas when he fell ill in Makkah and was visiting him, “Whatever you spend for the sake of Allah, you will get reward for it, even for the morsel of food which you put in your wife’s mouth.” Also, Mu`adh bin Jabal said to Abu Musa al-Ash`ari, “I sleep and hope for Allah’s reward for my sleep, just as I seek His reward for my night prayer.” It is also mentioned in a tradition, “The sleep of a scholar is tasbih (exaltation of Allah).”
