Allah says in surah Al-Dhaariyat: “and we have left there a sign (i.e. the place of the dead sea , well-known In Palestine) for those who fear the painful torment.” Verse 37 Is it true that what is being referred to by “sign” in this verse is the Dead Sea? الجواب

Praise be to Allah, and may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah, his family and his companions.
As to what follows:
With regards to answering your question we say, success is by Allah Almighty.
Scholars have differed with regard to what is meant by the sign that Allah mentioned in this verse. Form what has been said on that:
It is Lake Tiberius, some said that it was Sodom, the city of the people of Lot (peace be on him), it was also said that the sign is in what they did and what Allah punished them with, and it was told otherwise.
And it is also possible that all these meanings are correct, and Allah knows what is meant by that.
