Is it permissible to send the price of sacrificial animals to Islamic countries like Iraq, Pakistan and others? There is a six hour difference in time zones between where we are in America and these countries and it is well known that a person who wants to sacrifice should refrain from shaving, trimming and the like, due to this time difference, their time of sacrifice comes before our time. So is it permissible to send the money bearing in mind that there are many poor people here (in America) as well as people who slaughter? إرسال ثمن الأضحية إلى بلد آخر

الجواب

Praise be to Allah, and may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah, his family and his companions.

To proceed:

It is Sunnah to slaughter a sacrifice in your country with your family because sacrificing is from the rites of Allah whose honoring is prescribed through slaughtering the animal, witnessing the slaughter, eating from it and feeding others out of it. However poor countries are sent money or what they need lest Muslim countries become devoid of this great rite. If it happens that a person is in one country and his sacrifice is in another country then what is considered for slaughtering is the time of Eid  in that country whether it occurs earlier or later than the  one which he is domiciled. This is based on the Messenger of Allah’s (peace be on him) saying: “When the ten days (of Dhul-Hijjah) begin, and one of you wants to offer a sacrifice, let him not remove anything from his hair or skin.”
And Allah knows best.
