Fatwas / Purification / I am not sure if my period has ended or not. So what should I do?

On the last day of my period, a white discharge came out like the discharge of purity but it was mixed with another colour, so I was not sure if I had become pure or not. So I did not take a bath. Then, the next day the white discharge of purity came. So I took a bath and prayed from Fajr. But I had doubt about the prayers of the previous day, which were Maghrib and `Isha. So was that (the previous day) a state of purity or not? And do I have to make up for those two prayers if I was not sure of the state of purity, or should I just consider it brownish discharge? شككت هل انقطع الحيض أم لا فماذا أفعل؟

Answer

Praise be to Allah, and may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah, his family and his companions.

As to what follows:

In response to your question, we say, and with Allah Almighty lies all success:

If you were doubtful about the state of purity and whether or not your period had ended, then the basis for the ruling is the continuity of menstruation until the appearance of purity (white discharge). So you do not have to make up the prayers of Maghrib and `Isha, unless you were sure about the state of purity, or you were almost certain that you had become pure.

Dr. Khalid al-Muslih
