مرتب الزوجة هل هو للزوج

Answer

All praise is due to Allah alone, and may the Salah and Salam of Allah be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and his companions. To answer your question, we say while seeking all the success from Allah: The money earned by the woman from employment is hers only. The husband is not entitled to receive anything from it, unless she likes to give it to him whether some, or all, of it. This is based on a number of textual evidence such as the statement of Allah, the Most High, wherein He said (interpretation of the meaning): {And do not consume one another's wealth unjustly.} [Quran 2:188] Also, the statement of the Prophet (may the Salah and Salam of Allah be upon him) wherein he said: “What right would one have to take the money of one’s brother (i.e. other people)? Reported by Muslim (1554) However, if you both agreed that she would give you a particular amount of money in return for allowing her to work, and her family did not make it a condition in the marriage contract that you will allow her to work, then it is permissible, so long there is no injustice. And Allah knows best.

Your brother,

Khalid al-Muslih
