As to what follows: In response to your question, we say:   It is permissible to give Zakat to one’s poor relative, if he is one of the recipients of Zakat and his upkeep is not compulsory on the  Zakat giver. These two conditions are to be considered in the issue of Zakat regardless of whether the recipient is a brother, son or father of the Zakat-giver and so on.
