Fatwas / Tafseer / Is hasan (good) and ahsan (best) from the word of Allah?

Allah says: “Those who listen to the word and follow the BEST thereof” [Al-Zumar 39:18] And He also says: “And follow the BEST of that which is sent down to you from Your Lord (i.e. This Qur'ân)” [Al-Zumar 39:55] Is it understood from these 2 verses that there is good and best from the word of Allah? What is the difference between the punishment that is muqim (lasting), alim (grievous), adheem (severe) and muhin (shameful)?

هل من كلام الله الحسن والأحسن؟

Answer

Praise be to Allah, and may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah, his family and his companions.
As to what follows:
With regards to answering your question we say, success is by Allah Almighty.
1: The word of Allah varies in terms of its subject matter, but there no superiority in terms of the one who speaks it. Therefore the greatest verse in the Quran is ayah Kursi because of the honour of its subject, and likewise surah Fatiha is the greatest surah in the Quran because of the great meanings it contain in its few verses.
And everyone knows that surah al-Ikhlas is better ans superior  than surah Tabat yada abi Lahab in terms of meaning even though all of them are Allah’s word.
In conclusion, superiority of surahs is neither dependant on the one speaking nor is it dependant on the miracle in the words because the whole Quran is a miracle; rather superiority is due to the meanings contained in the surah.
2: These are the various descriptions of punishments:
•Al-muqim is that punishment that is permanent and will not be raised.
•Al-alim is that punishment that is painful such that it will cause pain to the one being punished.
•Al-adheem is that punishment that is severe and cannot be borne.
•Al-muhin is that punishment that will cause dishonour, disgrace and humiliation.
These types of punishments are many and can be combined in one punishement.
We ask Allah to grant us good health.
