Indeed all praise is due to Allah; we praise Him, seek His help, and ask for His forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evil of ourselves and actions. Whoever Allah guides, none can mislead, but he whom He leads astray you will never find for him a protecting guide. I bear witness that none is worthy of worship except Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. May Allah’s peace and blessings be on Muhammad, his companions, and those who follow him in goodness until the Day of Judgment.
Be conscious of Allah, O believers, and observe your duty to Allah of fear and respect with the right observance, for indeed fearing Allah is the way to salvation. It is the straight path with which a person realizes happiness in this world and success in the hereafter. Allah the exalted revealed the perspicuous book and guided the believers to that which brings them happiness in this world and gives them success in the hereafter. In this regard, Allah the Almighty says: “Verily, This Quran guides to that which is most just and Right.” [al-Israa’: 9]. Therefore every guidance and way other than Quran and Sunnah is a way of misery. This fact is not known by many people in the beginning except that the consequences will later show them their mistakes. Many people find pleasure in deviating from the straight path and disobeying the commandments of Allah the Almighty, but this disobedience quickly turns into worry and grief that burns the heart, as well as affect a person’s behaviour and character. Over and above that, this spreads out to the community and the Ummah, not only that but to the whole humanity. For this reason, it is peoples’ obligation to enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong in order to enhance peace among them.
O believers! The effects of disobeying Allah the Exalted in a matter might not be seen by a dull person who has a weaker sight that can only see things happening at the present time, but with the passing of time the harm of disobeying the commandments of Allah the Exalted and His Messenger are seen. For instance: people comprehend the pleasure of adultery and its reduction of personal desire, but its prevalence causes great disorder and evil on both personal and social level. And what is this high rate of spreading of diseases, family disintegration, loss of family lineages and similar things like troubles and affliction which befall those who indulge in this phenomenon? Prevalence of sin is an example which can be used on every act which is done to disobey the commandments of Allah and His Messenger (peace be on him).
Interest was irrevocably forbidden by Allah Almighty in his Wise Scripture and described those who are involved in interest with worst descriptions. To this end, Allah the Almighty says: “Those who eat usury will not stand (on the Day of Resurrection) except like the standing of a person beaten by Satan leading Him to insanity.” [al-Baqarah: 275]. The description mentioned in this verse is a clarification of a great confusion caused by eating interest and its prevalence. The manifestation of interest and its prevalence among people is the cause of this confusion. Moreover this person knocked down by Satan will not rise and his journey will not be good, not only that but he will be confused. Therefore, whoever is involved in eating interest should be befallen by this confusion which is mentioned in Allah’s words: “Those who eat usury will not stand (on the Day of Resurrection) except like the standing of a person beaten by Satan leading Him to insanity.” [al-Baqarah: 275].
Verily, global economics is based on eating interest, thus eating of interest is the core of capitalism which controls global economics. Consequently, these days we see examples which have been yielded by this system such as confusion which is not only limited in one sector or one aspect of life. Indeed, effects and harms of economic disturbances spread into all aspects of human life. This is seen in their private and public behaviours,
O believers! The economic crisis has deafened our ears due to what we hear from Radio channels and other means of spreading news as well blinding our eyes because of what we read and see from the effects of this crisis which has affected the economic system that controls the world. This is undoubtedly conclusive evidence on the evil consequences of eating interest. The cause of this crisis was never observed by a scholar nor was it spoken about by any of the Islamic scholars. But it was observed by those who are responsible. This is because the cause of this crisis is the prevalence of interest by way of selling debts and loans and changing immovable property into monetary notes that circulate. By so doing, eating interest becomes doubled and multiplied to such an extent that debtors will be unable to pay their debts, banks will not be able to fulfil people’s needs and people are affected by a major economic crisis which is about to blow away this system.
O believers! A believer sees by a Shari’a sight and he is not provoked by incidents and he is not worried by these phenomena which are there to support a theory that is aimed at either opposing Shari’a or destroying it. Nay, but a believer should start off from the saying of the All-Knowing because Allah the Exalted, praised and glory be to him knows about the creation’s interests and Shari’a came to guide to that which is right in every aspect and in every matter.
O Allah! Grant us guidance, O Allah! Grant us guidance, O Allah, save us from the evil of our own souls, O Allah! Show us the truth and make us follow it, and show us what is wrong and makes us stay away from it.
I have said this, and I ask of Allah my forgiveness and your forgiveness, He is indeed the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.
SECOND SERMON.
All praise is due to Allah, I cannot enumerate His praises as He praised Himself, andI bear witness that none is worthy of worship except Allah alone who has no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. May Allah’s peace and blessings be on Muhammad, his companions, and those who follow him in goodness until the Day of Judgment.
To proceed:
O believers! Be conscious of Allah and have confidence in His promise and abide by His law, for indeed everyone who holds firmly to Allah will have resorted to who in His hands is the governance of all things. The One who raises whomsoever He wishes and pulls down whosoever He wishes, He gives power and authority to whomsoever He pleases and withdraws power and authority from whomsoever He pleases. Thus in the hands of Allah is the keys of everything but the wisdom of Allah gives reign to an oppressor, that is to say an oppressor is established on earth and given power and authority which will be a cause for him to increase his oppression and continue in his ignorance, but verily the end is for those who are righteous and at the end of the day it will be known if the starting point was correct. Whosoever had a correct starting point will have a praiseworthy ending, and whoever had a deviated starting point should realize his falsehood and leave everything that he uses to defend his views.
Indeed capitalism which has become prevalent and has spread out through global economies hinges on eating wealth in vain, injustice, uncertainty and all forms of unlawful things.
Allah, the Wise and Well-acquainted with things built the Islamic economic system on forbidding interest as the first prohibited thing then on prohibiting uncertainty and gambling, then eating people’s property unjustly and all other means and types of deceit used to devour people’s property. Not only that, but Allah compared eating people’s wealth in vain with killing people. To this end Allah the exalted says: “And eat up not one another's property unjustly (in any illegal Way e.g. stealing, robbing, deceiving, etc.).” [al-Baqarah: 188]. After this, Allah mentioned the prohibition on killing of innocent souls.
How many people are destroyed by the destruction of their wealth? Moreover there is no stability among people except by wealth. For this reason, it is incumbent upon us as believers to glorify the laws of Allah and resort to them because in these laws there is a way out and refuge.
A believer should take a lesson from this incident and not on the aspect of the economic system only or on a single aspect in his life but should generalize it to every matter in the matters of this world. For verily, obeying Allah the Almighty is success while disobeying Him is failure, foolishness and loss, not with regards to the hereafter only but also in this world due to ignorance of the heart and spread of vice. In this regard, Allah the Almighty says: “evil (sins and disobedience of Allah, etc.) has appeared on land and sea because of what the hands of men have earned (by oppression and evil deeds, etc.), that Allah may make them taste a part of that which they have done, In order that they may return (by repenting to Allah, and begging his Pardon).” [al-Rum: 41].
O Allah! I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity and self-sufficiency. O Allah! Keep us safe in our lands and reform our leaders and rulers. O Allah! We seek refuge with You from the evils of our own souls and from our bad deeds. O Allah! Protect us from the evil of every evil that You are holding by the forelock.
Our Lord! Give us In This world that which is good and In the Hereafter that which is good, and save us from the torment of the Fire! Our Lord! Forgive us and our brethren who have preceded us In Faith, and put not In Our hearts any Hatred against those who have believed. Our Lord! You are indeed full of kindness, Most Merciful. O Allah! Bless Muhammad and his family as you blessed Ibrahim and his family; You are indeed worthy of praise, full of glory.
