Question
I haven’t seen any inconsistence with the Imam’s aqeedah except that he associates himself with a group of Sufi people who celebrate mawlid and we know that the people of mawlid recite the Buswairi qaswidah, is it permissible to pray behind him when we say: the general principle is that the one who recites that qaswida and attends mawlid is from the people of innovation leading to disbelief and praying behind him is not permissible?

Praise be to Allah, and may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah, his family and his companions.
As to what follows:
With regards to answering your question we say, success is by Allah Almighty.
It is permissible to pray behind such a person. As for what you mentioned regarding mawlid and reciting Buswairi qaswidah, is not part of innovation that leads to disbelief even though the qaswida includes gross exaggeration in some of its verses which is something that is not known by many people because the mistakes are distracted by the vocalist’s or reciter’s chanting.
Therefore you should strive to give him advice and try to show him what is correct.
