Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: As for the people of Satanic states of being, they are a people whom the devils have associated with just as they associate with their brethren [from among mankind]. When they attend hearings of whistling and clapping, their Satanic state overtakes them, and then they increase in it and flare up foaming at the mouth, just as the possessed does, and say words that they themselves do not understand, nor the audience. In reality, these are their devils speaking upon their tongues when their minds become absent, just as the jinni speaks upon the tongue of the possessed.
